Searching for my 1969 Mach 1 CJ
« on: April 09, 2018, 12:34:04 pm »
This is likely a long shot but here goes; I recently stumbled upon an old Insurance Document dating back to 1972 regarding my 1969 Mach 1 Mustang.

It's been 45 years since I sold the car and I'm going to see if it's still 'alive' and if so, perhaps I would be able to own it for the second time. I purchased the car in 1970 from a Ford service rep who had installed adjustable 427 valve train, a dual point distributor and a few other mods that were popular at the time.

The VIN is: 9R02R130002. My old triple red Mach 1 had a 428 CJ engine, top loader, 3.50 diff, black shaker hood, black reflective stripes, no power steering, no fold down rear seat and no spoilers.

From the research I have done, the car was last registered in Saskatchewan back in 1996....then the trail goes cold due to privacy laws. I have recently established contact with the 'Mustang Guru' in Saskatchewan and joined a Canadian Mustang Club with the intention of picking up a lead or two....without success.

By the way, my insurance premium was $49.00 which included a sur charge because I was a underage.

Regards
Cal

Due to the privacy rules/laws I've hit a barrier and haven't been able to move on with the quest for my old 69 Mach I.

However, a few days ago I purchased a '69 Ranchero GT, 428 SCJ, 4 speed, buckets and tinted glass. The gentleman I purchased it from owned it for 33 years and had to let it go due to personal reasons. I Have the Marti Report and by all accounts I've hit the jackpot.

I've looked but haven't been able to find a SCJ Ranchero Forum on the www...not surprising due to the numbers manufactured. Is there anyone that knows of a site I can go to...

Regards
Cal

This is the site for the 428 part of the car. There should be a Ranchero site somewhere. Might be all lumped together with the basic car line. Just guessing, is it based on a Fairlane chassis?

I purchased a W code 427 in 1982 it was sitting on a garage floor next to a SCJ 428 engine which I passed on for the "better " motor the 428 came from a 69 Rancho the owners used a torch to remove the motor IIRC there were less than 100 of these cars.

The Marti Report I have indicates there were 53, 1969 Ranchero's built with the 428 SCJ engine.

Quote: "The 69 Ranchero with s/n 9A49Q268xxx was produced with a 428-4V Super Cobra Jet engine and the Drag Pack package.
There was one 69 Ranchero GT produced with a 428-4V SCJ non-ram air engine that was painted Indian Fire and equipped with a 3.91 Traction-Lok rear axle".

Although I have now have the 428 SCJ Ranchero, I'm still going to continue the search for my 69 Mach I.
