C6 transmission cooler lines
« on: March 02, 2017, 01:00:33 am »
Hi all,
Does anybody have a pic of the pipe and connector going in to the rear cooler hole? I have just installed the engine and C6 and discovered that there is very little clearance in the area around the rear hole. Also, the new lines I got from MU have a 90 bend on the front fitting (OK) and a straight  fitting on the rear (?).
Also, what should be the clearance between the edge of the engine fan and the radiator? I can barely fit a fan belt between mine.
Thanks
Graham

There was a seller on EBay that had made some reproductions a year or so ago. As I recall they looked fairly decent. Unfortunately I've lost the sellers name. As I recall the price wasn't all that bad either. Another "shoulda bought" part that escaped me. :( Seems like my life's story.
In that thread I asked if the adapter had other uses but no one replied. Am I wrong to guess that buying the 1970 lines would eliminate the need for it?

Well you sure nailed that one fast. I can't say that it is the same seller but it is the part.
I searched EBay for the basic number of 7D273 there is a lot listed for other applications. I did notice that on some of the similar looking ones to the CJ part. That a company logo is rolled into the part. Like some fittings have the Weatherhead logo on the flats. Can anyone confirm that an original does or does not have a logo on them? If they do have a logo, whose logo is it?
In the EBay listing it mentions that it had a C7 & the later C9 prefix. To me that implies that there was a 67 to pre 68.5 useage. Just guessing that it might be for 67/68 390 Mustangs & Cougars with C6's. Any opinions? That might widen the search for original fittings.

I'm in need of a new set of Trans Lines for my 70' . Who has a good source / Part #  I could order a Cooler Line set either OEM or Stainless (Preferred)! I have the Brass adapter on mine.

Thanks for any leads, Chris

I bought regular original steel, I have not had experience with stainless, and I almost went that way, but too many told me that it was a nightmare, great for maybe show cars, but, if driven regularly , you may have to inspect a lot....I guess leakage is the biggest issue ......

Thanks Steve , I've been running stainless lines for about 20 years but had some chaffing issues in a few spots near the starter and want to replace them . Couldn't remember where I picked up that set so was curious what others were buying and happy with!
