2015 FE Race & Reunion
« on: December 29, 2014, 06:38:56 pm »
Ok folks, the holidays are basically behind us so it's time to start thinking about the 2015 FE Race & Reunion!! Hard to believe this will be our third time doing this and it gets better every year. This will be without a doubt the largest gathering of FE/FT powered vehicles ever. If you have been there in the past you know how special of an event it is. If you haven't been there yet, you need to start planning for April 24 & 25, 2015!! We have already confirmed that Dick Brannan and Hubert Platt will be back this year. There is also a rumor that another former Ford Racing "super hero" may be attending. More on that later if it happens!! This year will be a full FE only two day event including a huge cookout on Friday evening. Keep and eye on our FB page and website for updates. http://www.fairlanet.com/FE/ This years event will also be dedicated to the memory of Phil Bonner. Spread the word and be there!!!!

Got about 1000 miles on the fresh rebuild. Missed last year with the hurt engine ( roller lifter came apart shortly after driving home from the first event)  had to go .040 over and .030 under on the crank journals to cleanup the damage. New forged pistons new Hyd roller cam & lifters. Put stock exhaust manifolds back on with factory H pipe this time around. Running strong but lost a little low end grunt without the hooker super comps . Pulls hard around 3300 rpm and beyond   Not sure if ill be able to make the 3 hr drive up there with it this year but am keeping my options open at this point. Great event & I would hate to miss another one !!  Chris

Just booked my room for the 2015 FE Race & Reunion. Make sure you call and mention the event and Beaver Springs Dragway to receive your discount. I'm staying at the Sellingsgrove Comfort Inn. The discounted lodging is listed at the below link. April 24 & 25 will be here before you know it!!!!

I booked my room some time ago, but I forgot about the discounted rate.  I will call and mention it.  Thanks for the heads-up.  Looking forward to the event!

Several Forum regulars as well as I attended this year's event. We took a group photo of the 1968 428CJ cars in attendance at the end of the show, unfortunately Vinny had already put his car in the trailer so he did not join us for the photo.  Of special note is the black SS/F race car which turned out to be "135" car no. 35. The current owner told us that he had bought it from  Connie Kalitta back in 1972.

Did you get any owner info or pictures we can add to our ID page?

The door says Rich Allen. Has a sponsorship decal on the hood from Patrick Blair. Perhaps ownership can be traced back by his racer number? Looks like he uses the car a fair amount, he shouldn't be hard to find if his contact info wasn't saved.

Finding a name isn't usually the challenge. Getting people to respond is. I can't tell you how many times I send an email or leave a voice mail message for someone and get nothing in reply. I'm hoping that Chris had a chance to talk live and build rapport with Rich or someone that knows him.

Emailed more detailed photos of the car plus owner name, address & telephone number to you, Scott.

The owner honestly had no clue until we spoke to him that his car was anything special.

He mentioned several times that he bought the car from Connie Kalitta and that it was equipped with high back bucket seats.  Beyond that, he had little to no information on it including where all of it's special parts went.

It's a real because he has raced that thing for years! To never be noticed is a trip!

Curious here. Did he say that he only bought it as a shell? The way it is worded sounds like he didn't sell off the parts. If only he knew what that stuff is worth in todays market. :o

No, it was a running car back then.

It just evolved into a full on race car over time.

In 72 it was just a race car!
