First Trophy today
« on: May 21, 2017, 09:12:52 pm »
Hey gang, it has been a while. I just wanted to stop by and let you all know I won my first trophy today.  It was only my third car show and I took top ten in no particular order, so I think I won LOL.  It was voted on by the people who were also showing cars. Not many fords won. I was the only 69, CJ there. There were 2 67 stangs, a couple of 65s. A good mix of old and new cars.  Fun times.

Congratulations Joe!  I remember the effort you made to put this car together and it is nice to hear those efforts have been rewarded.

Since it was obviously a mixed-make show, top ten is pretty darn good, rhynerj...Fords generally don't do well in such a setting.  It always kind of amazes me how the negative sentiment toward Ford's muscle cars has persisted through all these years...not that they didn't mostly earn it in the 60s.

Thanks again all, It was indeed a variety of vehicles there, Thirty trophy winners
Here is the picture as requested.  The white 67 was a nice GT, the guy restored it from its former racing days. From the pictures it would have been neat if he had kept it as the race car...

Hi Joe -Congratulations !   I remember when you (we) were finishing our cars (seems such a long time ago) and my visit to NJ !!

Glad you are enjoying your car, I too only had my out a couple times since 2010 finish.

P.S.  Good thing you got out last week, doesn't look like the weather will be too nice for the holiday!

Kudos from fellow car people feels the  best. To be singled out at a show is something to be proud of. Congrats.

Guess I like the car show thing now. I did another show today and won second place in my division, 68-69 Modified... Some folks said I should have been in the stock class but the sign in sheet was very clear, anything on the car that wasn't original to the car counted as a modification, I have an aftermarket stereo, speakers, and sunpro gauges in the console. So I entered Modified.  Good thing too three torinos and a fairlain won the stock division... Fun times.

Pretty sure ' modified ' means a 460 crate motor and 20" wheels.  Rack'in up the trophies.  Good for you.  Brian
