I was hoping for a stand alone show with only CJ cars .Mixing in with the NMCA will make us a small spoke in a big wheel. Waited 7 hours between rounds on Sunday 2 years ago at that show .
had many 428 CJ and SCJ cars over the last 30 years.I currently own a 68 1/2 coupe and a 69 R code SCJ Coupe and a 70 R code SCJ Cougar Eliminator .I am looking for a 70 428 coupe if anybody knows of one for sale.

Anybody know if a later model Ford drag race car with FE power would be welcomed? I have a 78 Fairmont that I have been racing with FE power for 30 years, most of that with a 428 CJ.
I also have a 1959 Ford 2 door sedan with a 428 CJ and 4 speed Toploader. Obviously neither car came with the 428 CJs from the factory! (If it matters or helps, I have owned 5 69-70 R code cars). I plan to retire next year, and have been considering a long distance road trip, like either the FE Reunion in Beaver Springs PA., or maybe this event, which would be a bit closer.
427 FE powered Ford Fairmont drag car. ET:9.97@132mph
Have owned 5 "R" code Mustangs & Fairlanes over the past 25+ years.
Currently building a 1959 Ford 2 door sedan with a 428 CJ and Toploader 4 speed.

Will someone in the know about this please advise.  I looked at the 2017 schedule and I am guessing that "our" part of the schedule here is really just Saturday?  Danny T. - do you know?

I ask partly because I have learned that the good hotels are either already sold out or are very expensive.   Minimizing nights in a hotel near the event would help the costs a lot.  Much as I would like to see the cars run on Friday, I would give that up to save $220 on a hotel room.

The website shows Cobra Jet racing on Friday and Saturday, but I am currently unclear if that is the late model CJ's or if the other Cobra Jet's will be included.  The car show portion of the Cobra Jet Re-Union will of course be all three days.  This, however, doesn't prevent CJ owners for coming and entering there car for only a single day.

I hope this helps some.

The FAST racers also have a pure stock race with them that cars close to original can race in .I might do both  with the 68 1/2 .

Hotel rooms are at a premium just about all the time, sandusky is a bit far but a lot cheaper, (used to be)

There web site still doesn't show anything. I am wondering how this is going to work out. I hope the CJs dont end up out in the weeds.

No worries, Bob.  This will be the Cobra Jet event of the year!  The hold up right now is legal stuff!  It shouldn't be long now, before it hits the press running.

50th Anniversary Show- 2018-Bill Barr
« Reply #38 on: January 28, 2018, 11:22:03 am »
I spoke with Bill Barr (Ford Engine Supervisor on the 428CJ) about this show. He is excited about it and plans to be there. He and I discussed a lengthy Ford report done in 1968 about Ford's plans for a much greater presence in street performance. I found the report to be fascinating and pleased it is being unearthed after all these years.   Roger

The 50th Anniversary excitement builds!

I strongly suggest to pre-register early.  The only way to enjoy the celebrity dinner and other VIP events is through pre-registration.  It also gets you the reserved parking in the Cobra Jet display area which will be separate from the other show car field.

Got my attention real quick when I read ' Santa Ana, Ca '.  Norwalk, Ohio is probably not doable for me.  Brian
Where you guys getting it that the show is in Santa Ana?  That where the sponsor that is going to host it is from. The release, if you continue reading the whole thing, says Norwalk,OH ::)
