Thought the rear drums would be 2" but the shoe would be 1.75"??

I found 2" shoes with 1 3/4" drums this puts a nice chamfer on the brake shoes. It amazes me what some guys will let get by.

Both of these drums are ford parts and on my car as found  the finned part is a Kelsey hays and the 1/4" bleeder wheel cylinders are K/h too so which drum would be a assembly line type part ? So would the 2" shoes be correct and would a 68 Shelby KR have the same set up ( 2" )

John thanks for the reply, someone in another post claims 2" is correct ugg. I know the shop manual for 68 calls for 1 3/4" for 390 cars as I have one and it works correctly with the drums I had. So there is no difference between the 390 and the 428 equipped cars ? Where would this info be found in the shop manual end of this as autozone even calls for a 2" set up.

The rear drum and shoe sizes on V8 Mustang and Cougar 1968-1970

1968    2.00" Drum used with 1.75" shoe. FoMoCo Drums have dual grooves
1969-1970    2.25" Drum with 2.00" shoe. FoMoCo Drums have single groove

Paul if you want to add the larger shoes and aftermarket drums to your 68 backing plates it will work fine while you are at it there.

So the 428 cars got the same brakes as the 390 cars, would a 68 Shelby KR car be the same ? Thanks Kerry !

Not Kerry but yes all the same. The 390 cars got 28 spline rear axles, 428 cars got 31 spline with N case center section of course.
