Title: Looking for a source for ALUMINUM brake drums
Post by: dozz302 on July 13, 2019, 11:19:28 pm
Hello, looking for a source to find Aluminum brake drums for the 67-70 mustangs. I believe 1982 Lincoln Continentals came with them on the rear 10x2" and they will work on the mustangs- but no luck finding any. Feel free to email directly- it would be greatly appreciated eparocz@aol.com Thank you

As far as I know Ford never used aluminum rear drums. Lincoln used rear discs.

From Autozone's website, it appears that they did use aluminum drums on the 82 Continental.  Note that the replacement parts are cast iron, probably a reason for that!

Part Number: 8896
Warranty: 2 years
Notes: With 10" drum; Cast iron drum replaces OEM aluminum drum (Must be replaced in pairs)

We bought a 1982 Continental, new, and I am 99 44/100% sure it had 4 wheel disc brakes. The aforementioned Pontiac drums are the only aluminum drums I've heard of.   Dave R.
