There were at least 5 or 6 428 CJ cars there.I guess my 69 Rcode SCJ coupe went the quickest this time.Wayne Nelson and I both couldn't get any traction.I put a new Barrie Poole built engine in and fired it up on tuesday and went a 12.87 off the trailer. On the final run I went a 12.51 with a 109.51 mph but blew a head gasket at the 1000 ft mark.If I could have ran a low 1.80's 60 ft and got rid of a nasty bog it would have ran in the 12.20's or a bit faster. It went a 12.57 on a 2.01 60 ft time and a best mph of 110.81 .Wayne ran that kind of mph on and off all weekend but just couldn't hook either .I have seen him run a 12.39 before.  I now have a new goal for the car of a 11.99 a better exhuast and a fine tuning with a AF meter may get it there but it might take a while.Tom Shaw also shot my car for a upcoming issue. It was a lot of fun and I met several forum and FE forum members.I can't wate till next year
had many 428 CJ and SCJ cars over the last 30 years.I currently own a 68 1/2 coupe and a 69 R code SCJ Coupe and a 70 R code SCJ Cougar Eliminator .I am looking for a 70 428 coupe if anybody knows of one for sale.

I forgot to thank Wayne Nelson for helping me out.I got a bigger squirter from him that helped my car run much better and he loaned me his snorkle for the magazine shoot ,I forgot to put mine on before I left home.It was really good seeing Mike again also and he helped get my car loaded after the blown head gasket.

428 CJ hardtops, are you still running 4.11s in the CJ coupe?  Do you happen to know if Wayne Nelson is still running 3.75s in his?

I am still at 4.11 I am not sure if Wayne has changed.I feel a 3.91 may be better now maybee a 3.70 later to keep the rpm down arround 6200 in the traps. The heavier a car is the more gear is needed to move it ,my car is no lightwieght.

Congrats on the great weekend Steve and on the photo shoot. Be sure and let us know which magazine your car will be in and when it's coming out. Wayne ran good several times to with a best time of 12.59 but i guess his new tires did him in and he couldn't get it to hook several times although God knows he tried (probably 200+ lbs. in the trunk!!) Gerald 52-- Wayne still does have the 3.75 in his car.   Mike
