Dennis Alvey
« on: May 17, 2010, 10:47:26 pm »
John Calvert just called and informed us that stock racer Dennis Alvey was involved in a roll over wreck on his way home from Fontana yesterday.
He and his wife are very sore, but not seriously injured.
Unfortunately that cannot be said for his truck, trailer, and Mustang race car.
Both the truck and trailer are totaled and the Mustangis pretty beat up.
He had insurance on the truck only.
If anyone cares to offer any assitance to a good racer in need I am sure that Dennis would appreciate it.

Dennis Alveys car was Marcel Cloutier's 68 Cobra jet.

Man that is terrible... glad they are ok.
I wish I had some 68 parts.. I would send something free to make sure this car was rebuilt and back on the road to recovery!

Glad to hear they are not injured in the accident. It seems like the car is not as bad as it looks. It can be repaired!

A few months back, I found and printed a color picture of the car taken during the time it was wearing the blue/red paint scheme as pictured above in the black and white magazine article. I can't remember which website but the picture says "Gary Grant Photos" if that might provide a clue.

The "old" picture with original white paint and the black "C" stripe is here in my office "somewhere". As soon as it resurfaces I'll scan it and post it for all to see.

     Thanks Bob,
I'm "somewhere in the background" in that photo. This had to be '69 when Marcel was still working at the Shell station on Harbor Blvd right by Disneyland here in Anaheim. He eventually flat towed it on tow hubs when the 4.57 rear gear was too hard on the engine for the 12 mile or so freeway drive to OCIR.
As promised I will forward the actual picture to Dennis at the address you gave on post #1.

I was curious what the ET's  were for A/S which Dennis runs and it ends up Dennis Alvey is the current quarter-mile record holder at 10.34 @128.93 mph as of 11/4/12.Pretty cool. Doug
