They sure did race in Napierville. I have a old book with pictures and Barry Poole is in. I will try to get it out and scan the pics. There is another production 68.5 in that book called Silver Horse that was driven by RĂ©mi Girard. Also George Constantine with it's 69 after he sold it's 68.5 to Marcel Couture.

From what I've read, it seems that a lot of drag cars were destroyed in towing mishaps, rather than on the race track.  I guess long days racing, and non-modern towing equipment took their toll.

It's a wonder I never wrecked mine while towing. I had a 1969 F-350 ramp truck with a 390 that had a vibration at 78 so of course I had to go faster. It didn't mater if it was a 2 lane or 4 lane I ran the same speed. Than I got a 72 F-350 that I put a Cobra Jet in it and the speedometer didn't work so I had no idea how fast I was going.

I work with Randy Poole, Barry's brother, who is a great person and body and paint fellow. He is restoring cars for the fellow I work for.
He has some great stories of the Border Bandit days.
