Great News, Marti found the VIN for my Dads car. Now to see if its registered here and see what happens. The VIN is 0T05R142714. The details of the statistics were as follows:

191,522 1970 Mustangs
40,975 were Mach 1's
2,501 came with 428-4V Ram Air Engines
1,371 had 4-speeds
54 were Grabber Green
35 had black Mach 1 interiors
17 had the 428 SCJ engines
11 had 3.91 Rears
6 had sport slats
only 1 had AM/8 track radio

So hopefully this car is registered and we can locate it now. Thanks for everyone who has helped. Hopefully we can locate it

Well, it is not in the printed registry book right now. Scott, any updated info?
Have any law enforcement relatives that can do a VIN search? Think there are some online resources that might be able to help..

I'm currently away from the computer on which I maintain the registry database. Please send me an email or PM to remind me and I'll check it when I can.  If it's not in the book then odds are that it hasn't been added recently.

Yeah I was afraid it might not be registered. However, I do have a friend in law enforcement that Im going to ask to run the VIN for me. I just hope the car survived and is still around.

Well great news and not so great news. The good news is I found the car and it has undergone a complete nut and bolt restoration. Not so good news is the car was sold by a muscle car dealer a few months back to a high end collector. The dealer doesnt seem too optimistic that the guy will sell the car back to us, but he is supposed to call him and find out. I also was able to talk to the previous owner who restored the car which was very cool. The link below will take you to the website the car was listed so you all can check it out. I will keep you all posted as to what happens with all this.

Well at least you found the car and it has survived all these years. That alone is nothing short of amazing!

Kelly is a member here and I usually see him at Tulsa every year. He also owned Black Magic at one time. I'm sure he will try his best for you and if it doesn't work out immediately, don't give up. You never know what will happen and the current owner may need to sell at some point. As long as he knows you guys are serious, you may have a shot.

The car is beautiful.  Persistence will pay off, hang in there.  At least you know it is alive and VERY well.

Great news & congrats on the find.

Persistance pays !!

I'm sure you or your dad will end up owning it again.

You've had luck on your side (car surviving) & I think it will continue.

Well I figured I would give you all an update on this thread. After speaking with Kelly who sold my dads restored 70 GG 428SCJ, the guy who currently owns the car is not interested in selling the car. I have asked Kelly to provide me with some contact info so I could talk to the current owner directly and hes yet to respond to my email. In the meantime, my dad and I located an almost identical twin +/- a couple less important options and we were able to buy the car. Although this is not the exact car my dad had its almost identical and hes very pleased to own another. We still hold out hope that he will eventually be able to purchase his original car back. We just received the car from the transport company yesterday and so I thought I would share some pics of the car and register the car with the site. VIN#0T05R116145 Thanks
