Went to the ford nationals many moons ago  and bought a set of 1/2 inch spacers, beautifully machined. Installed them with the original snake covers ( adjustable rockers) no problems with clearance at all

They just look much better/cooler than the chrome "Power by.." covers in the car today; but are they completely wrong for a dec 1968 built SCJ ?

My Metuchen 12/19/1968 built SCJ came from the factory with the "Snake" valve covers. How do I know? I'm the original owner.

Saw a guy at the Columbus Spring swap who makes these spacers. Looked very nice.

Thanks for the info Dave.
I will always refer to your car if someone "complains" about the covers... ;)
We may have identical cars;
two candyapple red SCJs from Metuchen built within one week (mine built 12/13/68)
Is yours a 3:90 or 4:30?
1969 SCJ 4-spd, W-code, Candyapple red

 Interesting Dave is your car a Q or R code?  We are working on a 69 Metuchen Q-code drag pack vert built late jan 69 & not sure of which covers to use now. We also have a 1 owner metuchen built 69 mach1 shaker car also built around the same time but not a scj & it has chrome covers & thats what i was planning on using but not sure now since your scj was built a few weeks before. I always thought the  ribs on the aluminum covers matched the shaker ribs & the chrome covers matched the Q-code chrome air cleaner lid but we know they werent always that way depending on when car was built.
