Looking for engine and C-6 with 0F505630
« on: November 09, 2017, 11:30:23 am »
I recently took over care for a 1970 Cougar VIN 0F91Q505630 and am hoping to find the original power train. The car startesd life in Medera CA and moved to Western Washington state some time ago. My history for it is it was in the Silverdale WA area in the late 90s and when the last owner bought it in 2--1 it had a 351C in it.
Thanks.

Thanks Kim. I think this is a good looking Cougar. Certainly a Sleeper, except the Competition Yellow.

Nothing sleeper with yellow!  ;)  You'll match Chris' Cat now.  Glad you rescued the poor thing -- looks like it killed a fair amount of grass from sitting.  I do have a '70 CJ block out in the shop, but it came from down south.  I'll check for a VIN next time I'm out working, tho, just in case.

This car originally sold by Dick Anderson Ford Mercury in Medera CA. Not sure what DSO item number 8185 means. But is sat on the lot for about a year. Currently it had a 302 and a C-6 in it. The guy I got it from said it had a 351C in it when he got it. He also said it only sat in that spot for about 5 months. It will be inside my shop on Sunday.
You may not find a VIN on the block, but check the date code for me please.

Today I bought a 70 428 Police interceptor (date coded 9M13) nicely wrapped up in a 1971 F250. The engine was installed back in the mid 70s when the owner had a mishap with the original 360 and distorted it. Now I need to find a lot of little parts.

Today I bought a 70 428 Police interceptor (date coded 9M13) nicely wrapped up in a 1972 F250. The engine was installed back in the mid 70s when the owner had a mishap with the original 360 and distorted it. Now I need to find a lot of little parts.

Glad you found a block!  It's all those little parts that will get ya :-/

Up date on my Cougar CJ, I have found a set of CL heads that work with the build date of the Police interceptor. I picked up a service replacement 69 CJ Carburetor, A set of reproduction cast aluminium valve covers a set of headers and a number of small parts. The car's trunk is nearly full. I hope to get on to the floor replacement after the first of the year. Maybe I will have this on the road next summer. But more likely in the summer of 2020.

Very cool!  Going to be a sweet beast when you get it all sorted out :-)

Minor update time on the Q code. I have been collecting parts for the last year. I have the 428PI and a cast iron tail shaft housing C-6 from another 70 Police interceptor. I found a 70 Mercury 428 Police Interceptor in this 71 F250.

I found a set of -N heads that work with the build date of the PI to upgrade it to a CJ. I got a CJ Holley service replacement carb, a new set of the cast aluminum find valve covers and a set of headers. As well as a bunch of small parts. The trunk is getting full.

I hope to start doing some small projects on it after the first of the year. Like getting that crappy 302 out of it. I removed the heads and found that while it was a recent rebuild, it had gotten water in it and has rust in several cylinders. Oh well....

This afternoon I got the factory invoice and Elite report from Marti Auto Works. Interesting. It is 1 of 1. But...

Apparently only because it is a California car.
I found this to be interesting, no prices on the window sticker,

I've already called Marti Auto up about this(will call back in the AM) and have discussed it with Mike Bank. He said he has seen a couple other Eliminators that are early build unit that are the same way. Note here on the Factory Invoice it only has dealer prices on it.

If anybody had seen this and may have asked Kevin Marti about it please let me know what he told you.
