Rear Bumper-1968 Mustang
« on: December 22, 2017, 11:15:30 am »
The brackets for the rear bumper( between the chrome face bar to the body) are so old that I cannot determine the paint color- can you advise?
Also the rear bumper chrome face bar has strange marks on the inside surface -perhaps 20- about 1 inch long as if it was hammered - any idea what caused them?  Thanks

It sounds like it has been straightened and re-chromed before. That's what makes those marks. I always paint my rear brackets natural so they don't rust. I don't think they were black. I think they were natural metal.  Roy

Perhaps the marks are from straightening- but this is the original bumper as I am the original buyer.
So if natural metal - do you clearcoat them? or paint them silver?  I hate rust.

I normally use natural finish cast blast, but everyone has there own preference.

The brackets are black, the threaded nut insert was natural.
