We're not doing anything special at Carlisle. The 50th anniversary celebration is described here: https://www.428cobrajet.org/forum/index.php?topic=24190.0

I missed a really nice pair of early March dated exhaust manifolds by less than 5 minutes  :'(

The manifolds were off an early 1968 Cougar engine that was also there. The owner told me that it was from a Cougar (Jan block with Feb and March components on it)

I did find some other stuff however traffic, interest and sales of stuff in the swap meet area seemed to be a lot lower to me.

It was still a good time. I got a chance to visit with a bunch of guys from the Registry over the course of the weekend and the weather was a lot better that what had been forecast.

The 4th week Jan vin stamped block and 16 bolt machined first week Feb heads were from a Ford Promo ad magazine car scheduled built Feb 20th 1968. The vin is known to the Cougar Club of America. It is the earliest Cougar R known produced.
This is the earliest verified CJ engine assembly with CJ exhaust manifolds I have recorded. I had those heads dates recorded previously machined to 14 bolt manifolds. It is clear to see they were machined for either W code 390 manifolds or the new 428 CJ manifolds. Unfortunately the car is unknown today. Maybe the new owner of the engine will order the Marti Report. It was a Glacier Blue with Blue Knitted Buckets, GT optioned XR7 model with a extremely rare G code 3.25 Traction Loc and automatic transmission. The engine got a great home and I hope to see more photos.

I think with the threat of rain some stayed away. There were a lot of empty spots in the swap area.

I was talking with the owner of the Cougar above and he claims during the 60's he changed out about 500 390 fords and installed 427's.

What was the opinion on Cobra Jets showing up? I heard not a single 135 68 was there? Is everyone planning on the event in Norwalk?

I was there on Friday with my truck  as they wanted rain??? But it worked out as I bought a ton of parts for my 64 Fairlane. I took the 65 on Saturday and also spent most of the day in the parts section.

There weren't a lot of CJ's there that I saw - maybe 15-20 including Torinos & Cougars.
As far as a 135 car this is as close to seeing one that I saw.  :(
