Radiator Question 68 1/2
« on: May 15, 2018, 03:50:17 pm »
What is a C8ZE-J radiator ?

Being advertised as a 68 R code radiator but Web Site says should be a -"L".... Is it just a 390 S code big block radiator?

Thanks

If you are looking for a KR radiator, they would be -L , -M or -S depending on your trans and build date.

-L was the 4 spd, the other two were used on the auto trans cars

The identical radiator, fan and shroud was used on the 390 powered Mustangs and Cougars for 1968, both S and X code engines.

Depending on what plant the car was built in makes a difference also, west coast cars had the brass tag soldered to the radiator on side typically, east coast cars and Dearborn where stamped on side strap.

Soldered type tags are available last I looked from NPD,also never had done it but side strap cam be stamped.

West coast cars had a different top tank marking with smaller letter FoMoCo where others where marked on top in bold letters FoMoCo.

I believe the ā€˜Jā€™ radiator has been seen on Boss 302ā€™s and (confusingly) on A/C 351W Mach1ā€™s

May 2nd built Dearborn 68 1/2 cj fastback 4 speed

Based on that u can pretty much assume same as a KR radiator.
Which is a C8ZE-L1
Same as in a B9 except the date.
