Thanks Danny Truitt for getting pictures of me with the Ex-Poole CJ. One of my unicorns! Second I credit John Calverts 68 CJ for getting me hooked! He took me for a ride around Norwalk in it and it was cool as S^&$!

Thanks for the greats pics!  That red coupe, which I assume is 428 CJ hardtops', is mighty close to getting a bit of air under the front tires...on F70-14 Polyglas!!!  Kudos!

That's a very nice shot Bob .Actually they are G-70-14's you have to take advantage of all the advantages they allow . :D
had many 428 CJ and SCJ cars over the last 30 years.I currently own a 68 1/2 coupe and a 69 R code SCJ Coupe and a 70 R code SCJ Cougar Eliminator .I am looking for a 70 428 coupe if anybody knows of one for sale.

The white 69 fastback doing a wheelie is owned by Richie Pauly. It is 135 car 048 and has been raced extensively all these year in C/SA. Best time is 10.33 secs. At the reunion he mentioned some of the extensive mods that required- cutting down trans and axle internals to reduce rotational mass. One year he was protested 7 times - he passed them all. He ran .005 secs too quick in the finals so took a loss. Nice car!

68! LOL I have been following Richie for years! He has known that car since day 1! He bought it from Boskovich in 1970! No other 135 or GT car can compare to how many passes put on by a Cobra Jet car!

I ran my car at several of the Supercar Showdown events in the early '90's. I first ran into Barry Poole in  the staging lanes at New England Dragway. Barry is a great guy and he gave me a few simple tips that I followed to cut close to 1 second from my ET over the course of the weekend.

I'll never forget watching Barry run, that black 68 1/2 left the line like it was shot out of a gun. No wheelie or anything but instant movement off the line.

It was great that Bill had some friends bring the car to the 50th. It's a shame that Barry couldn't attend. It would have been awesome to see him reunited with his black CJ at the 50th.

Yes, same place, same time. I was so wrapped up in taking pictures and hanging out with the people I knew, I missed a bunch! I missed the group photo at the tower Saturday because the Poole car wasn't under the tent. I knew it would show up at any time! As soon as Guy Tucker left to get in the pic, Lannie showed up with it. We talked and he offered to go back on the blacktop so I could get my pics!

I have known Richie for years, one of the nicest, humble racers out there! And yes, he bought his car from George 'Pops Toy' Boskovich  back in 1970. I even purchased some CJ 'goodies' from Richie back in the late 1980s for my car. Thanks for sharing all of the cars/people involved!

Pops Boskovich bought the 135 car and a street CJ after taking a test drive in the car I own which was the "demo" for Foulger Ford in Monrovia. I would never have known it if it hadn't been for George telling me years before his passing (rip). He related the right rear tire ( 3.50 open diff) was almost bald but it took a beating , so he bought two. Great man and dyed in the wool Ford lover.

Guys I am 99% sure that the black 68.5 with red C stripes pictured belongs to Ray Desanzo from western Pennsylvania. If I am correct please indulge me while I tell you a little about the history of this car and more importantly it's original owner. This car was purchased new from Cipra Ford in Ravenna, Ohio by my best friend, Bob Timperman. Bob raced this car in Pure Stock at Quaker City Raceway in Salem for a few years and from what I am told was pretty much unbeatable. I met Bob when I started racing my 69 CJ. By this time Bob had moved on to bracket racing with the usual upgrades, headers, slicks, etc. Bob, his wife Brent and my wife became best and lifelong friends. Now I'd like to tell you a little about Bob. Bob enlisted a the beginning of World War 2. He was a crewman on a Navy Ventura bomber based in the Aleutian Islands. On what would be his last mission his plane was hit by ground fire over northern Japan and was forced to fly to Siberia where the crew bailed out of the crippled plane. Since the then Soviet Union was not at that time at war with Japan Bob and his crew were interned as prisoners of war. Eventually they were returned to the US going across the Trans Siberian railroad to Tehran and Morocco. Bob went to work at Firestone tire in Akron where he was a tire builder. One of his claims to fame as it were is that all four Drag 500s he ran on his car he personally built himself. Bob was a wonderful man and as I said was the best friend I ever had. Bob died in 1999 and his widow asked me to help her sell the car. Long story short it was purchased by Rick Parker of Signature Auto Classics in Columbus and subsequently sold to Ray. Bob would be very happy that Ray still races the car and I have had the pleasure of meeting him and seeing the car on several occasions. One of my biggest regrets is that I did not buy the car myself but that is another story.

Here are a few pictures of Bob and his car. The blue 69 is mine. I had it painted blue shortly after I started racing. Rest in peace my friend.
