'65 K Code - working on it now.
« on: September 15, 2018, 05:17:12 pm »
Is there anything special about the rear brakes on these little guys?  The bane of my existence --brakes, sigh...  I need to do wheel cylinders and such on the rear of this car and am wondering if I need to worry about sourcing parts, compared to a "regular" '65 Mustang?  I get a lot of my stuff from West Coast Classic Cougar for my Mustangs, but of course there weren't '65 Cougars so I need to look elsewhere.

Thanks.

It is a common myth that the K code Mustangs received the larger Shelby rear drums/plates. They used the same 1.75" as Grammas 2V Coupe. The front are same 65-67 4 piston disc set up

Kerry -- that's exactly what I was asking.  Thanks so much!  8)

Not sure how cute you are getting with it but along with these pictures are the paint daub colors.
I have a 65 k fastback as well it’s Rangoon red. It’s been 20 years apart as 3 other cars jumped the queue. But nearly there now.

Wow -- that is a great reference for brakes, whether one wants to paint daub correctly or not.  Thanks!  Mine is a plain Jane Coupe in white with a gold (ugh!) interior.  Numbers match for all, minus the tranny (K-code but from another car), with 98% + correct stuff, although not detailed.  Fun little driver -- the most musical engine (aside from an FE, of course).  8)

Happy to help.
Nothing wrong with K Coupes. They sure can sing high in revs.
The Tony Gregory fourth edition cover back has some nice details too
