Looking For Any Info On A Tasca Ford "135" Car
« on: October 26, 2018, 09:50:43 am »
Hello Ford folks,

This is my first post and I'm hopeful someone can provide some info.

In the wake of the latest issue of Musclecar review, I was chatting with a friend who mentioned his father had bought one of the "135" cars new from Tasca.

He raced at New England Dragway and Connecticut Dragway and street raced it in the Taunton, MA area into the early 70's before selling it to a gentleman who worked at Jack Brennan Ford in Norwood, MA and lost track of it - for the most part - after that.

It was allegedly the victim of an attempted insurance job - someone tried lighting the interior on fire - but it didn't take.

This registry lists cars 135016, 022 and 040 as three of the ten Tasca cars that are currently unaccounted for.

Any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't help you, Brett Slater, but I have to say that the photo is fantastic.  The hand lettering for "Al's Sunoco" as principal sponsor is a priceless example of how "big money" wasn't such a factor back in the day.  It also looks like it has tow bar brackets hanging down in the front, indicating it was probably flat-towed to the track behind someone's station wagon  :).  A humble history for a 135 car.

Yes - very humble!

I hope someone else can chime in at some point with any info, if possible.

It was definitely flat towed by the red Ford truck in the picture.

Absolutely.

How do you know it's #040, though? I'm intrigued.

Some of these people have been tracking the cars since before the historical value of the cars was recognized.

Various people have access to resources that we can use to identify cars based on original owners, and/or owners based on VIN. Let's just say that sometimes those resources can be applied. Thanks for allowing us to use the picture - I'll put it up shortly.

Just joined the group, this is my Dad's car , he was the 1st owner of the car and purchased it right from Tasca. I've heard about this car my whole life, and after discovering this photo a month ago, i want to learn more about it and even try to chase it down. I have some leads and will share with the group as i gather more info.
