Randy, 35+ year old memories are fickle. I could very easily have the name mixed up. My memories are based on what I read in the mags & perhaps National Dragster.
I thought that later on I saw a short story or advertisement that he was porting heads. Then cutting the head into 4 pieces to sell as templates for home porters. I thought that it was a great idea back then.
The gist of the cleveland story was that the cylinder walls on his block were too thin. Had cylinders collapse a couple of times at the track. Block ended up with a lot of sleeves, maybe all 8.
I would of thought that Ford learned a lesson from the 427 cylinders. That always puzzled me on why the 429/460 blocks were quite thick walled in comparison.
