I broke a distributor rotor right at the finish line in the first round.

Fortunately Steve had a new one at his swap meet spot that was right across from my truck and trailer. Paul found a rotor at the vendor's spot right next to Steve.

I replaced both and had no other issues.

Kind of wet on Friday but I had a great weekend anyway.

We caught a bunch of lucky breaks and managed to win the Cobra Jet class!

Well that was too easy to figure out!

I was running a repro "Autolite" distributor cap.

One look at the inside and it is clear that the terminals are not worn evenly from side to side.

The rotor was an original Motorcraft part and there is no end play in the distributor.

I'll take some measurements but I'm willing to bet that the terminals were not cast concentric with the surface that registers on the distributor.

Yes Chris, let us know what you find out about the cap terminal measurements. Since it was running OK until that moment, do you think something “shifted”?

Wish these reunions were in So. Cal.

I'd be there with my 68.5 too!

It's difficult to measure but it appears that the center of the pin pattern is about 0.020 out versus the center of the cap register.

I have seen an issue with these caps not seating correctly on the distributor.  Casting flash or a dimension issue at the base of the cap perhaps.
