1969 Side Emblem
« on: March 06, 2019, 12:43:56 pm »
Having trouble finding information through our search engine. Does anyone have a link or personal information, which could help me with the exact location and installation process for the 1969 side emblems behind the quarter glass. Mine are long gone without any remnants of the previous emblems.

Mark, I used some butcher paper to make a template off of another Mach 1. My restorer used that to replace my emblems. Surely there is another Sportsroof near you to use as a model.    Dave R.
Currently:

1974 fastback 4 cyl. auto ( her DD)
Seems to be a pattern here.

It was my understanding that not all cars got them. If your car had them there should either be 2 studs where they were or evidence of the studs.

I believe all Sportsroof model got them. When I bought my car they were missing and someone had ground off the studs. Apparently some folks didn't care for them. Others didn't want to replace them when damaged or stolen. They were just a friction fit from the factory. Easily removed.   Dave R.

I thought these emblems were a Mach 1 option?

My car was modified in the 70s with all the cool day 2 goodies that make some of us scratch our heads. The antenna is on the rear quarter, original Silver Jade car which is now White with no stripes or badging but has 70 hood stripes with fender emblems on the hood scoop and leaf spring shackles, and of course the basterdized cutting torch holes on both sides of both shock towers.
Car hasn't been plated since 89. I'm thinking of just using a couple stainless screws with some lock-tite and some 3M- emblem tape to act as insurance and a gasket. I just thought there would be a standard template.

As for other Machs in my area, most are in hibernation, you won't see a muscle car till mid April in Saskatchewan. I'll make some calls.

I think that they were used in 1969 only but on all Sportsroof models. I looked at a couple of the parts warehouses and they list these medallions as 1969 Sportsroof medallions.    Dave R.

No honest idea on usage. My Mach1 & my Sportsroof both have them. Both are 69's.

I didn't care for them myself so they never went back on. I put a stick on cobra snake Emblem on either side, Through back to my Mach 1 when I was a kid. You can get them concave or corvex. Looks much better imo. Should have been standard issue I recon!! LOL

GOD - please don't use screws!! Don't cut holes in the car, some double-sided tape will hold them on, and if you decide you don't want them or they need replacement, then you won't have interrupted the integrity of the paint-work or created a rust-issue going forward. These things aren't heavy, tape will be just fine!!

Hmmm, tape.

I guess I could locate a pin welder, I'm just mot sold on the "just use tape" system. I'm still in need of an exact location if anyone would like to snap a couple pictures while holding a tape measure for the correct orientation. seriously I may see a handful of these cars this summer.

They were not used on Boss 302s.
